Item Description

Linwood calcites of this fine large quality are uncommon, but golden-amber scalenohedrons of this large size on matrix are RARE! The striking, gemmy and lustrous, 6.5 cm, double crystal has beautiful stepped-growth faces and is twinned (another rarity)! The undulating CABINET plate is covered with glassy, colorless, smaller scalenohedrons, some being doubly terminated. A very impressive large calcite on calcite specimen from this locale. Very nearly pristine, with only the most infinitesimal termination wear to the large crystal. See the Mineralogical Record article in the 1992, Vol. 23, pages 231-238 issue.
