Item Description
Wow! An amazingly scuptural and dramatic large calcite combination specimen from the famous Elmwood Mine. A classic, highly lustrous, transparent to translucent, twinned calcite crystal with the highly desirable, gemmy, golden amber termination areas is surprisingly perched upright on a plate of massive barite, with just a bit of accenting sphalerite! The 7.5 cm-long, doubly terminated, side-car crystal is a super accent. The piece is very stable and displays beautifully without aid, sitting on its own base! The termination is lightly bruised; and there is some contact asymmetry on the back on both crystals, with embedded barite, where the calcite was attached to other minerals in the pocket. So it is not quite perfect on top or in back, but it LOOKS so from the front, and displays like a "mega-rock" in terms of apparent value. This remains one of THE most artistic large calcite combos we have seen from the renowned locale. If this was pristine, you could easily add a few "zeroes"! Fairly valued at $2000 and worth it. Try to find another with this form and quality for the price....
