Item Description

An unusual and attractive associaton specimen of somewhat tabular, bladed, white, lustrous, gemmy Calcite crystals on semi-"rosette" shaped groups of bladed, golden color (darker on the surface due to iron staining) Barite crystals matrix. The piece is very showy with good aesthetics and overall quality. The largest Barite measures 1.2 cm. The piece comes to us from the collection of Willard Wulff whose signature 3x5 index card label states that it's from the "Juanita Mine, Magdalena". If you collect New Mexico minerals, you shouldn't miss out on this one, as they're rare on the market, and this one is really eye-catching. As I mentioned, this piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ).
