Calcite on Amethystine Quartz (old classic) ex Whitmore Coll.

Item Description

An old-time, showy and excellent, CABINET, combination specimen from the famous mines at Guanajuato. Lustrous, translucent, tan, complex calcite rhombs are very jauntily perched on the edge of a plate of banded amethyst covered by glassy quartz points. The large calcite rhomb is 3.0 cm and they are all complete all-around and pristine. The quartz crystals have just a hint of amethyst in them. The sculptural plate, in itself, is in excellent condition. Classic combo material from this noted locale. An old 50 cent price label is glued to the back. This piece must be at least 70 years old.
