RARE style, gemmy and lustrous, light flax-yellow dogtooth calcite crystals are richly and dramatically festooned on the impressive large mounded amethyst crystal matrix from the famed old silver mines at Guanajuato. The pretty calcites reach about 1.3 cm and some are even doubly terminated. The frosted blush-purple amethyst crystals have phantoms, a typical form for the locale. This is a classic combination for Guanajuato, but scalenohedrons are RARE from here, as most such pieces have calcite rhombs. Probably from the La Sirena or Peregrina mines. Very choice and RARE large combination material from the Gary Weaver Collection. The piece has two fine display views.
