Item Description
Classic, very showy and unusual style large old-time amethyst combination from the historic mines at Guanajuato. A striking 5.2 cm, glassy, translucent calcite scalenohedron is artistically set on the edge of the mounded plate. The underlying matrix is banded amethyst with unusual glassy and lustrous quartz points on top. The quartz crystals have water-clear terminations with frosted sides. See the 2016 Mineralogical Record article in the Mexico Special Issue VII, Vol. 47, No. 5. A very fine and different looking large amethyst combination from the famous locale.
