Calcite on Amethyst

A beautiful stunning single, gemmy, sharp, "dogtooth" pristine Calcite rises majestically from this matrix of sparkling, medium colored Amethyst on basalt matrix. The contrast and aesthtics are striking. Both are common minerals, but the association and stark display qualities of this large cabinet sized piece make it stand out from the crowd. The Calcite measures 7.6 cm, and actually has a beautiful internal "phantom", and a small ring of Amethyst crystals surrounding it near the base of the crystal. When the pice is backlit, a small amount of greenish Celadonite inclusions can be seen as well. Valued at $2,400 in the inventory.
