Item Description
Mineral specimens from the much less well-known Greenside Mine of Cumbria, England are rare and are very rarely available on the market. This is a striking, sculptural specimen of a glassy "bead-like stalactitic repetition of short hexagonal prisms with nailhead terminations - with dolomite and shadow druses of pyrite." Almost certainly this fine piece is around 100 years old or older, but no proof. A very fine calcite from this locale. Ex J.G. Dixon and Tom Wolfe Calcite Collections. Pink fluorescence.
