Item Description
Significant oldtimer survivor from the mid-1900s mining days of the old lead district here! This old-time, classic large calcite from the historic Joplin Field. The lustrous, translucent, steeply and sharply terminated scalenohedron has fine light straw-yellow color. The striking opposing stepped-growth features on the satin lustre faces add much pizzazz. The crystal has a nice glow, when back lit. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only a trivial barely noticeable termination wilber on one side and one trivial edge wilber. A very fine old-time calcite from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection. Note it has a more yellow color in some lights, or when backlit.
