Hexagonal calcite crystals of this style and exceptional quality are RARE from this famous old iron mine, noted for outstanding scalenohedrons and twins. The Pallaflat Mine operated from 1874 to 1914. A 2.8 cm, gemmy, striated, flattened hexagonal crystal is dramatically set on matrix and accented with two nifty columns of stacked hexagonal calcites. This adorable and classic miniature is nearly pristine, with only a very tiny contact on the termination of the crystal. Ex Scott Williams Collection, a noted dealer and collector, who passed away in 1997 and Cynthia Payne Calcite Collection. Valued at $795 by the former dealer and certainly worth it.
