Item Description

Exceptionally limpid, gem-like, calcite scalenohedrons to 4.3 cm (flat lying) are beautifully clustered on the contrasting, banded hematite matrix. The primary upright calcite is about 3.0 cm. Modest periphery wear is noted, but has no impact on the outstanding quality of the interior crystals, which are pristine, except for the barely noticeable gentle bruising to the large upright crystal. Classic, old-time and excellent material from the famous iron mines of Alston Moor. It displays beautifully from either side. Ex Fioravanti Collection and obtained in an exchange with the Handcook Museum at Newcastle on Tyne in 1976. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
