Calcite (old Classic!) ex Jack Halpern Collection

This pineapple-like cluster of well-formed Calcite scalenohedrons has a rich, earthy-brown color, and is one of the most attractive Calcite specimens I have seen from here. It is amazing in its simplicity, you would say. The form of this cluster, as well as the color, habit, and luster of these dogtooth Calcites, is immediately indicative of the old classic style from the Buena Tierra Mine. The crystals, to 2.7 cm in size, are sharp and look carved and polished, almost. They are in very good condition, with only crystals missing from the lower periphery where there was contacting. Aesthetic from all sides, this is one of the more dramatic Calcites I have seen from this famous mine in Santa Eulalia. Formerly in the Anthony Worth collection.
