Calcite (Mn-bearing) on Quartz (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

The Idarado mine is most famous for it's Manganoan Calcite specimens. In fact, the largest quantity of the finest quality Manganoan Calcite specimens from Colorado were found in this mine. This piece features a few lovely scalenohedral Manganoan Calcite crystals with a soft pink hue sitting on a single translucent Quartz crystal with minor black Sphalerite. The Calcites are slightly translucent when backlit, and the overall quality of the piece make it a good display specimen of this truly classic San Juan material.
