Item Description
From the famous Colorado collection of Richard Kosnar (the namesake for Kosnarite), here we have an unusual but very attractive cabinet display specimen of the famous Idarado Calcites. This piece is different because the Calcites are sitting on yellow iron-coated Quartz prisms, which is not common for the locality. Typically, the Calcites (which are slightly pink from manganese content) are found on white / colorless Quartz, so they can tend to blend in together. THIS piece has a wonderful stark color contrast between the two species. The Calcites measure up to 1.5 cm and are undamaged as far as I can see. The vast majority of the Quartz crystals are undamaged, and really look beautiful up close. If you collect minerals of Colorado, or worldwide Calcites, this is a great piece to add to your collection. The Idarado is long closed, and will never produce these beautiful specimens again. Don't miss out on this classic old timer dating back 40+ years ago. Valued at $950.
