Item Description
A beautiful classic association specimen from the famous Montreal Mine featuring a few spherical groups of light lilac-pink Manganoan Calcite measuring up to 9 mm across sitting atop attractive peach colored bladed Barite on matrix. No real damage that I can see, and the aesthetics make it a very displayable specimen of this classic material from this famous iron / manganese mine. You don't see Calcite on Barite crystals like this from the Montreal Mine, especially since the locality was essentially finished in 1960. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2605). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
