Item Description
One of the famous classics from Dalnegorsk are the remarkable pink manganese-bearing Calcite specimens. These are certainly some of the most attractive and beautifully crystallized Mn-Calcites from any world locality. The combination of fine quality display specimens with their excellent form, color and luster is fantastic. This wonderful cabinet piece features beautiful pink color, very lustrous, translucent, sharp, well-formed, compressed scalenohedral groups comprising multiple smaller crystals on matrix to form a showy, three-dimensional specimen. The largest cluster of crystal measures 5.2 cm across. VERY little damage on the display side and the piece can be shown favorably from several angles. These used to be plentiful on the market, and now it's very difficult to get your hands on them, so don't miss out on this fine quality cabinet of this now classic material from this remote lead-zinc deposit in the very far eastern portion of Russia (which is actually situated in between China and Japan!). From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
