Dalnegorsk is famous for its superb examples of various sulfide minerals, often associated with minerals like Calcite. This piece is an impressive, hefty, eye-catching display quality specimen of the famous pink (manganese-bearing) Calcites from the 2nd Sovetskii Mine. These particular piece are some of the finest examples of manganese-bearing Calcite from any locality in the last 30 years. The piece features fine quality, well-formed, sharp, compressed trigonal crystals intergrown to create a "flower"-like formation sitting atop a bright silvery colored, metallic Galena crystal. The largest Calcite measures 4.3 cm across, and the Galena measures 6.2 cm at its longest dimension. For an added bonus, the Calcites show a wonderful orange fluorescence under UV light. If you have always wanted one of these Calcites, pick this one up now because they won't last forever, and for the overall quality, this is a great display piece with the wonderful Galena association.
