Item Description
Calcite is one of the most diverse minerals in the world, occurring in a wide array of colors, habits and styles. The distinctive pink "balls" from the N'Chwaning Mines in South Africa are some of the most attractive examples of Calcite from any world locality. This piece hosts a few good quality, beautiful soft pink color, radiating aggregates of Calcite with an almost vitreous directional luster, sitting on minor matrix. The pink color is due to manganese content. The largest "ball" measures 2.6 cm across. No major damage on the display side, good quality to be sure. This one had a price tag of $1,200 in our inventory. The piece shows a beautiful red-orange fluorescence under SW UV light. Priced at $950 in our inventory.
