Item Description
A classic example of these easily recognizable old-time Calcites from Pachapaqui. The piece is filled with rounded "cone"-shaped tapered scalenohedral crystals of soft pink colored (manganese-bearing) Calcite measuring up to 1.6 cm long, sitting on minor Sphalerite matrix. The Calcites have a truly unique look to them and they are almost all pristine, only a few small imperfections I can see. These pieces are no longer being mined, and are now some of the great classics from Peru. As you can see from the video, the crystals fluoresce a strong pink-red hue under SW UV light, as do virtually all manganese-bearing Calcites.
