Item Description

This is a beautiful "brain"-shaped group of alluring pink colored (manganese-bearing) Calcite from the renowned Wessels Mine in South Africa featuring wonderfully lustrous / vitreous compressed rhombic crystals covering the display side of this toenail sized specimen. The piece is complete on the front/display side and looks beautiful in person. There are some small overgrowths of what appears to be additional Calcite. The piece was originally from the collection of Rob Smith. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
