Item Description
An impressive, large and classic combination specimen from the famous mines at Bisbee. Glassy, colorless, complex, calcite rhombs to 1.5 cm with bright, pretty, velvet malachite line a dramatic, well-placed, sculptural, 8.0 cm on the diagonal, vug. Malachite coats much of this colorful piece and the matrix is massive, microcrystalline, lustrous, dark cherry-red, cuprite. Periphery wear is noted around the edge of the vug, but is certainly acceptable in the context of this striking piece. Another small calcite-lined vug is noted on the top of the piece, as an added bonus. Probably older material, but no proof. A fine, highly desirable, large combination piece from this renowned locale. Ex Rukin Jelks Collection, a noted Arizona collector. Hefty copper ore at 7.7 pounds or 3.5 kilos.
