Item Description
A sparkling, druse of grayish calcite forms the matrix for these discrete, glassy and gemmy, nearly colorless rhombohedrons, reaching 4.5 cm on an edge. This style of sharp, gemmy rhmbohedra is perhaps THE classic style for Tsumeb calcite, amongst so many forms and types from the mine. It is immediately recognizable as Tsumeb. And yet, good specimens - especially in this size - are very rarely seen. They are old, and not on the market these days. THis is one of the best large examples I have seen in years, actually. It has a great display horizon, and good aesthetics. The only problem is minor damages here and there, over the piece. Now, they can be "minimized" by drops of acid to make them less visible, but I have not (and generally do not) done that yet. If pristine, it would be worth many thousands of dollars. As it is, it looks highly impressive in a showcase or in the hand. (Just, fair warning about the damage on close inspection)
