Mine No. 884 is well-known for top quality Calcite crystals that came out starting in the latee 1990s to early 2000s. This thumbnail specimen features good quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy narrow scalenohedral crystals measuring up to 1.3 cm on oxidized matrix. The Calcites are inherently colorless but have a gentle orange hue created by iron-oxide inclusions. Very little damage, and a worthwhile pickup for any fan of Calcites or Chinese minerals. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
