Item Description

A gorgeous small cabinet / large miniature specimen featuring fine quality, sharp, well-formed, scalenohedral crystals of Calcite which show a unique color zoning between an opaque, chalky white hue and a translucent colorless tone sitting on a bit of host rock matrix. The Calcites have good luster all around, so the white substance isn't a coating, and you can see it lies below the surface on several crystals. The largest Calcite is actually doubly-terminated and measures 2.4 cm long. Most of the crystals are pristine, but there is a bit of roughness around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket. A really unusual and unique Calcite, that doesn't really resemble anything else I can remember seeing from this prolific locality.
