Item Description
A really attractive, eye-catching, three-dimensional specimen of Calcite from Charcas featuring a group of sharp, lustrous, prismatic, pseudo-"scepter" or "snakehead"-esque scalenohedral crystals free of matrix. The color ranges from very pale golden to colorless and the crystals are slightly gemmy to translucent. The piece is in fairly good shape, though there are a few cleaves and nicks, so it's not completely undamaged. Certainly worth picking up if you collect Calcites or Mexican minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5294). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
