Item Description

An exceptional large and sculptural matrix fossilized mollusc (Mercenaria Permagna) from Florida. The 9.3 cm mollusc has a striking and beautiful chamber filled with gemmy amber calcite scalenohedrons. The impressive reef rock matrix is littered with shell fragments. Ghostly white calcite fluorescence. Outstanding material. This is Pleistocene Epoch (1.8 MY - 10,000 years BP). The piece displays beautifully without aid from both sides. Fairly valued at $500-700.
