Item Description

A classic old time Calcite specimen simply labeled as coming from "Baden". Sharp, well-formed, prismatic, light golden colored, "dogtooth"-shaped crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm on host rock matrix. The specimen is accompanied by a classic old hand written label from Neree Boubee II, the grandson of the great French mineral dealer Neree Boubee. The label states that this piece was sold from the Comptoir Central d'Histoire Naturelle at the St Andre-des-Artes address, which was opened by Ernest Boubee in the late 1880s.. Old specimens from this famous dealership family in France are certainly rare and highly sought after by collectors. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11228). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
