Calcite helectite (cave formation)

These curved and twisted, sculptural cave formation helectites of calcite from recent finds at Santa Eulalia are certainly unusual looking and appear to defy gravity in their growth. There are two generations of calcite on this piece. Primary growth is the tiny, sparkly, snow-white rhombs. Lustrous, very glassy, gemmy, larger tan rhombs cover much of the earlier calcite. The form on this one is spectacular and the couple of contacts have no impact on the striking form. This one displays great from either direction! It looks like dancing legs in one view.
