Item Description

Fascinating sculptural large calcite cave helectite from the famed Potosi Mine. The dramatic curled, curved and straight "arms" of the 360-degree piece add fantastic form. The striking piece is composed of a myriad of stacked very glassy and lustrous, transparent to translucent, pastel-yellow to colorless dogtooth calcite crystals. Complete all-around. There are attachments at the base and on the tips of the two long curled and curved arms. Certainly acceptable in the context of cave calcites. Thanks to Dr. Peter Megaw, well-known Mexican and Santa Eulalia specialist, for precise Potosi Mine locality information. Classic and excellent Potosi Mine cave calcite from finds of the 1980-90s, these are not seen often today. It has a beautiful shine and shimmer!
