Item Description

Compared to the very few specimens of Calcite I have seen from this mine, this piece is certainly the best quality crystallized specimen. This piece was labeled as coming from the "La Fe" Mine, which is now the Amparo Mine in Durango, Mexico. A pair of VERY gemmy, colorless, prismatic, hexagonal Calcite crystals with basal terminations make up this attractive small cabinet display specimen. There are a few separation marks where the crystals were connected to other Calcites, but overall it's in great shape and is a very fine quality rare example of Calcite from this locality. The few others I've seen from La Fe are typically opaque and not nearly as well-crystallized. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
