Item Description
A very rarely seen matrix specimen of Calcite from the Meikle Mine, but it's even more remarkable due to the fact that the Calcite is a GEM quality TWIN that looks like a sparkling jewel. This locality is not known for its Calcite, but rather the fine quality golden Barites, so to find a piece like this is impressive. At first glance, I thought this was a Cerussite, due to the shimmering brilliance of the crystal. The modified, striated Calcite twinned crystal measures 2.0 cm across at its widest dimension, and has a wonderfully colorless interior. High luster, fine crystallization and the crystal is perfectly situated at the top of the specimen to create a very aesthetic overall piece. No damage to the Calcite, just a bit of attached matrix on the back of the crystal. From the collection of John Arnaud, and originally from the Lloyd Tate collection. Fine quality and hard to get from this locality, valued at $950.
