Item Description
Dal'negorsk has definitely become one of the premier contemporary producing localities around. The mine is still active and manages to produce amazing quality specimens of various sulfides and some exceptional Calcite crystals. This specimen came out about 10 years ago, and is superb from the standpoint of quality. It must be noted that due to the high WATER-CLEAR transparency, this piece was very difficult to photograph. The amazingly glassy luster, and diamond-esque appearance of the crystals make them so amazingly eye-catching. They are scalenohedral in habit, yet highly modified with fantastic stepped faces with remarkable smoothness. For the species, these are some of the best "optic grade" Calcites around, and every Calcite collector should have at least one good Dal'negorsk specimen. Overall the piece is in great shape with virtually no damage. A worthwhile small cabinet display piece with superb quality, sharp crystals of great quality. BETTER IN PERSON!
