Item Description

Dal'negorsk has definitely become one of the premier contemporary producing localities around. The mine is still active and manages to produce amazing quality specimens of various sulfides and some exceptional Calcite crystals. This specimen came out about 20 years ago, and is very good from the standpoint of quality. It must be noted that due to the gemminess this piece was very difficult to photograph. The Calcite on this specimen measures 1.7 cm and while it's scalenohedral in habit, it has highly modified fantastic stepped /striated faces on the termination but remarkable smoothness along the prism. For the species, these are some of the best "optic grade" Calcites around, and every Calcite collector should have at least one good Dal'negorsk specimen. Overall the piece is in great shape. A worthwhile thumbnail display piece.
