Interestingly, we see these amazing GEM transparent calcites turn up time to time mislabeled as quartz, in old Kalahari collections. This is a calcite, of the utmost transparency and quality, shockingly clean and crisp in clarity, from the Kalahari Manganese fields! It came to us from the collection of Charlie Key, circa 2010 or so. You have never seen the like from Kalahari, and it compares favorably to the best of England or China as well. This is a perfect, pristine crystal, that looks at first like a quartz because of the high luster. It was in Charlie's Kalahari Miniatures Suite, which he collected from the 1970s til time of sale to us. Valued $2000-2500.
