Item Description
Sparkly, iridescent, pyrite microcrystals along with dark brick-red iron oxides are richly and preferentially set on faces of two sculptural, dramatically intergrown, large, tabular calcite rhombs on this exceptional and rare combination from this uranium mine. The lustrous, translucent calcites are light straw-yellow to colorless. RARE material, as MINDAT does not list pyrite for the mine. Old material collected in 1920s according to the Josef Vajdak Collection label, a noted Czech specialist. Pink calcite fluorescence. The piece displays well without aid.
