Item Description

Two, impressive, large, intergrown, calcite crystals have two, dramatic types of inclusions. The lower sections of the glassy crystals are translucent and have striking, preferential inclusions of brick-red hematite. The termination areas are gemmy, transparent and have rich, fine, dendritic inclusions of an unknown mineral. The two crystals are complete all-around. A bit of temination bruising is noted, as is lower contacting with other calcite crystals. These are certainly minimal detractions to this rare and classic old-timer from the famous iron mines of Cumbria. Interestingly, bright reddish-pink fluorescence ONLY to the gemmy termination areas without the hematite of the lower sections.
