Item Description

Specimens from this interestingly named Oregon basalt quarry are relatively uncommon. This is a striking, 3-sided combination specimen is dominated by a large, sharp, 3.0 x 2.9 x 2.8 cm, lustrous, translucent, golden rod-yellow calcite rhomb. Smaller stepped-growth rhombs impressively surround the large crystal and the vuggy back is richly covered with aggregates of very sparkly, glassy analcime crystals. Some edge wear is noted to the large rhomb, but this remains an aesthetic and dramatic combination from this locale. BRIGHT ghostly yellow-white fluorescence! Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
