Item Description

A dramatically symmetrical, strikingly ribbed, bone-white completely fossilized mollusc (Mercenaria Permagna) from this well-known Florida locale. The opening on one side shows the chamber filled with small gemmy amber dogtooth calcite crystals. Ghostly white calcite fluorescence. A classic, exceptionally well-preserved shell without beach rock matrix from the locale. This is Pleistocene Epoch (1.8 MY - 10,000 years BP). Ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
