Choice, impressive combination piece from the highly-regarded Shangbao Mine in Hunan, China. This style was a famous production from the late 1990s, not seen since. The centerpiece of this large, small-cabinet specimen is a well-placed cluster of honey-colored Calcites up to 4.1 cm. Doubly-terminated and mostly gemmy, these hexagonal prisms of Calcite have luster that varies from good to frosted, orange-red fluorescence, and those corners and edges that are modified add even more to the interest and appeal. There are associated milky-to-gemmy Quartz crystals, up to 2.6 cm, that emerge upright from either side of the matrix plate, and each side is carpeted by pearly, pink Dolomite crystals. This is a fine, quite aesthetic specimen from this renowned mine. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces.
