Calcite (''flower'') with Chalcopyrite (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

A gorgeous three-dimensional display specimen of Calcite with Chalcopyrite from Dalnegorsk. This miniature sized specimen features tabular, white bladed crystals of Calcite forming a "flower"-shaped group, which is highlighted by metallic brassy Chalcopyrite crystals in the center to create a showy and eye-catching overall piece. A few additional Chalcopyrite crystals can be see on the sides and the back of the specimen as well. I can see a few small imperfections, but overall it's in great shape and it's so well balanced and displays wonderfully. Great quality material, and I think these are now regarded as classics in the mineral world. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
