Item Description

Attractive large 'FLOWER' cave Calcite from the cave karst deposits in the county of Wenshan in southern China. A very uncommon flower shape, that has a preserved flat lily pad base of concentric growth rings of an outer golden amber transitioning to inner white to clear Calcite with increasing heights of crystalline Calcite growth towards the center. These form as water levels changed in the caverns during the Ice Ages over tens of thousands of years. In the center there are large individual triangular crystals, up to 2.4 cm, of translucent icy Calcite that form a natural 'Y' shape connected like some weird vertebrae. The combination is highly unusual! The calcite crystals are in near pristine condition with only tiny, subtle bruising. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
