A classic from the 1940s-1960s mines in the Tri State lead district of Kansas/Missouri/Oklahoma. I grew up seeing these fishtail twins in old museums and old collections already, and always wondered why so few were saved from destruction. A part of the reason is that they were considered curiosities at the time, with so little value to the worldwide market. Also, few of "this size" were found. Most were big - heavy and cumbersome! This is a modern, aesthetic, collector size - and miners did not always keep the small fine things in those days. An absolute MIDWEST and USA classic, pristine all around, from the significant calcite collection of Cynthia Payne and then to Keith Williams. Valued $2000-2500 for quality color, condition in this size range.
