Item Description

Please note: This specimen is simply labeled as coming from "Monroe, Michigan" with no specific mine mentioned. If anybody out there can help us to identify specifically where this piece is from, please let us know. This attractive miniature features a handful of excellent, textbook, sharp, well-formed, beautiful golden colored scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring up to 2.8 cm long sitting on matrix. No major damage, though I can see a tiny nick on the termination of one of the smaller Calcites. The crystals have a matte luster on the surface and a pleasing internal translucency when backlit. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#846) with an old label from Scott Williams. Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
