Calcite (fine rare locality specimen)

Item Description

This is one of the few Calcites we've ever had to offer from this locality, and it's a remarkably beautiful and distinctive specimen, regardless of where it's from. Obviously, Florida is not a well-known mineral-producing state, but there are some specimens that have come out over the years, including these wonderful Calcites from the Crystal Springs No. 2 Quarry in the town of Lecanto. This piece features a predominant, sharp, lustrous, very gemmy, light golden colored satiny scalenohedral crystal with a notable "hoppered" / skeletal impression in the termination, which plays host to a few smaller Calcite crystals, including one "spear"-shaped crystal that is flaring out of the center of the main Calcite. No damage on the top of the piece, it's only contacted on the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. A very attractive and hard to find piece that would make a great addition to any Calcite suite, or a collection of rare locality pieces.
