The Calcites from Daye are some of the most well-known Calcites from China, which is saying something considering the bounty of specimens on the market from dozens of Chinese localities. This beautiful small cabinet specimen features a predominant sharp, lustrous, striated, gemmy, equant crystal of colorless Calcite surrounded by dozens of smaller accenting Calcites of equal quality (some of which have a dark reddish-brown hue due to an iron oxide coating) sitting on matrix. The main Calcite measures 4.7 cm across. long, and with the exception of one little nick, is essentially damage free. The piece has wonderful balance and quality and displays very well on its own thanks to an excellent trim job. BETTER IN PERSON!
