Item Description
Elmwood calcites are an American classic and this is a striking large plate from the Consie Prince Collection. Intergrown, glassy, transparent to translucent, light amber calcite crystals compose 100% of this excellent specimen. Two intergrown crystals on one end, to 6.5 cm, have the highly desirable and beautiful, gemmy golden-amber terminations and edges. Many of the crystals are also doubly terminated and twinned. For the size and crystal density, the piece is in great shape. The golden-amber crystals are essentially pristine, with only a tiny, out of sight bruise, on the back tip of one crystal. The trivial bit of scattered bruising is barely noticeable and is certainly not a detraction. Most excellent and older large Elmwood calcite. Valued at $1750-2000.
