Item Description

A gorgeous display specimen of unusual habit Calcite crystals from the famous Annabel Lee Mine. The piece is filled with sharp, "dog tooth"-habit crystals of scalenohedral Calcite with a soft golden white color measuring up to 3.6 cm. The piece comes from the collection of Ross Lillie (# RCL0529), and his label states that it was mined in December of 1989 from the "Livingston" trend by Larry Hamm. The habit of the Calcite crystals is described by Lillie as having "highly unusual termination(s)", and he states that this piece features a "RARE morphology". It's certainly different from any Calcite I've seen from this famous locality in southern Illinois. A great piece to add to your collection, especially if you collect Calcites, Southern Illinois specimens, or pieces with unusual crystal habits.
