This famous calcium quarry in Belgium has been closed for 20 years and specimens are seldom seen on the market now. The best of these crystals are really beautiful showing rich golden hues, with very gemmy crystals and even twins! This piece is a good representation of a Gralex Calcite featuring a predominant, 4.6 cm, sharp, gemmy, yellow to strong golden color modified rhombohedral crystal with smaller associated compressed Calcite crystals on minor matrix. It's in great shape all the way around, and the bottom of the main crystal is totally crystallized and not cleaved. From the collection of Renaud Vochten.
