Item Description

A wonderful, hard to find, old time Calcite specimen from the Magma Mine in Arizona featuring a 2.7 cm long, sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, colorless scalenohedral crystal with a few smaller accessory Calcite on oxidized matrix. The main crystal is damage free on the front side, but it has a separation mark on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. This particular habit is not common for the Magma Mine, which is better known for its "wheat sheaf" style Calcites. A great piece for any fan of worldwide Calcites or minerals of Arizona. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1444). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
