Calcite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A lovely specimen of attractive golden scalenohedral Calcite with sharp faces and great form associated with minor Dolomite and Galena at the base. The Calcite is nearly 100% pristine, though I can see a small imperfection on the back edge. I love the luster and translucecny of the crystal. These pieces seemed to have disappeared from the market recently, and are easily some of the most well known U.S. Calcite specimens extant. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7748). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
